Review | Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation

Many of us are guilty of using filters to enhance our skin. But what if we could have that “perfect” look without the filter?

Huda Beauty’s #FauxFilter foundation claims to give you exactly that – flawless, airbrushed looking skin!

Along with making you look flawless, this foundation claims to even out skin texture, diminish the appearance of scars, and be good for all skin types.

First Impressions

I absolutely love the packaging – I think all of her packaging is super cute!

The first thing I noticed was the scent. It’s honestly a really nice, fresh scent! I hope they make the perfume for this scent and sell it separately because I honestly think it is that good!

Consistency

The consistency is in between a liquid and a cream – heavier than a normal liquid foundation but lighter than a cream. It’s super easy to blend out with a brush (which I always use when I want full coverage).

Flawless-ness?

I immediately noticed how full coverage this foundation is! I normally use one drop of foundation on my skin but with this I only needed half a drop for F U L L coverage! No lie – the coverage is seriously amazing. This is coming from a girl who has lot of really dark hyper-pigmentation on my skin and it covers like 99% of those marks!

I definitely think that it lives up to it’s #FauxFilter name. The first time I used it I was amazed and how nice it made my skin look! I honestly felt so beautiful wearing this foundation. It literally makes you look flawless, like a porcelain doll.

I think one of the reasons it makes you look so flawless is that it has dimethicone in it. If you watch Huda Kattan’s youtube videos, you’ll notice that she talks about using Vagisil as a primer because it has dimethicone that smooths the skin’s appearance. I personally cannot recommend this to my readers because I am not aware of the possible effects it has on skin – always do your research before trying something new.

Afterthoughts

This foundation has a beautiful matte finish. If you don’t like matte foundations then this might not be for you. However, Huda states that you do not have to set your face because the product is matte. If you have oily skin, she recommends doing a light dusting of translucent powder to set.

It’s not the kind of matte foundation that makes you look super cakey so don’t be scared to try it!

Longevity

This foundation lasts a good 6-7 hours before any oil peaks through which is amazing considering my face normally lasts 4 hours with a good foundation. Even when the oil starts to peak through, I don’t become a grease-ball. It’s still pretty matte for the most part. I also don’t really think it oxidizes.

Coverage

Seriously one of the most full coverage foundations I have tried! It does a great job if you have acne scarring like I do.

This honestly is one of my favorite foundations. It does not give you a ghostly look with flash. This foundation and Kat Von D’s Lock it Tattoo are neck and neck on my list of favorites.

Use

One thing I will say is that this foundation is pretty heavy. I wouldn’t wear it everyday. This is one of those foundations that you save for a nice date or your birthday dinner or prom!

Areas for Improvement:

Although the foundation comes in 30 shades, I feel as though she didn’t quite capture the tan-brown skin tones with golden undertones that well. It was honestly very difficult finding my perfect shade. I was shade matched at Sephora and they normally match me a little darker than my skin tone but I honestly think the shade I have (340G-Baklava) is a little light for me. After watching Huda’s youtube video I realized that she wears the same shade and I’m definitely not the same shade as her.

340G-Baklava

It’s not a huge issue but I wish she had better golden brown shades. I do however, believe this line is perfect for those with olive skin tones.

Sparkle rating: 9.5/10

Overall:

I think the price tag of $40 is definitely reasonable because it’s amazing and lives up to the name #FauxFilter.

I absolutely love this foundation for special occasions and would love to see her come up with something geared towards everyday use. I think she would do an amazing job because all of her makeup this far has been pretty great!

By the way! If you live in Florida, this foundation is currently in stock at the Millenia Mall as of October 3, 2018 if you would like to get a shade match in person.

Have you tried this foundation? Thoughts?
