Applying Powder Before Foundation: An Ingenius Makeup Hack…?
Who doesn’t love watching YouTube tutorials? In a few that I’ve seen, beauty gurus were actually using SETTING POWDER before foundation! Isn’t that so strange? So many thoughts came to my mind when I first saw that! Like:” will your foundation be even? Won’t it just spread the powder around? Does this even work!” Apparently it’s supposed to make your makeup last longer, so I gave it a shot.
Here’s what I used (in that order):
- Moisturizer (I don’t use primer daily)
- Makeup Forever HD Setting Powder (apply lightly)
- Foundation + makeup as usual (including a powder to set my foundation)
- Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Ok so first of all… my skin felt dry! Like uncomfortably dry after using the setting powder first! I figured eh, it’ll be worth it if my makeup lasts longer. Plus when my oil starts to peek through it’ll balance out, right? WRONG – I was so wrong.
After 4 hours, I was shiny, which is normal for me, but this hack is supposedly supposed to make your makeup last longer. So that was definitely a bust.
The one good thing: my makeup looked smooth and flawless, like unusually smooth + flawless!
So, does it actually work? No, it didn’t work for me, even though my makeup looked beautiful.

I actually use loose powder and I apply it before my foundation and works out well for me! But it depends on the person’s skin tone

I use powder after foundation and it sets it and doesn t look oily
I normally do the same! My skin is super oily though! If I stay outside in the heat, that’s it for my makeup 😭
This hack is so strange! I want to try it to see if it works but at the same time I just can’t imagine putting powder down first! So strange! 😂 xx

I am gonna try that today i suffer with really bad acne and make uo doesnt stay on my face long enough to even leave the house . If youve got oily skin try purity by philosophy its amazing.x
