If you know me, then you know cold weather is my thing! We recently went to California and I had a bunch of cute sweaters to wear! I recently bought this tweed skirt from SheIn and I couldn’t wait to wear it. Tweed has been back in style for quite some time now. Trends have never really mattered to me but I do feel that tweed is a classic and everyone needs one good tweed item in their closet. I suggest getting a tweed blazer because they look so classy! Anyways, I paired this tweed skirt with a lavender turtleneck shirt from cotton on. I actually got this shirt for $5!! It was originally $25 – what a steal! I can’t find this exact shirt online but I will link something similar in the bottom of this post. This skirt would also look nice with a white shirt. The reason that I say white and not black is because I paired the skirt with black stockings and I think adding a black top would be too much. These are just ordinary stockings that you can find anywhere. I personally like getting my stockings from target because their quality is great and their price is affordable. I honestly wish I knew where I got these boots from but I have no idea. I love them because I think that they can go with any outfit, BUT they don’t stay up my leg. They come with the laces on the back so you can tie them to your thigh and I always tie them super tight but they still never stay up! Anyways – I’ve linked similar styles above for you guys and I hope you enjoy them! Beauty and Misinformation
Hello Sparklers! Today I wanted to write a post on something I am passionate about – beauty, duh! Not just beauty though, beauty AND health. What sparked my need to write this post was actually a snapchat I saw. In the snaps, an extremely popular beauty blogger was seen talking about how Rogaine makes your hair grow. While yes, it is true that Rogaine has been proven to make hair grow – you can also lose all of it when it you stop taking the product. You literally have to use this product every day for the rest of your life for it to work. I think that it is dangerous and careless to talk about this product (which by the way is more of a health product than a beauty product) without warning consumers about the side effects. There are a lot of impressionable ladies that watch her snaps and I think beauty bloggers (myself included) need to be more responsible about the information that is put out there. I understand that it is our job to recommend products that we think are great. However, when recommending a HEALTH/WELLNESS/MEDICAL product, then I think disclaimers to the audience should be provided. A statement such as “I love this product but you should still do your research before deciding to use it for yourself” would suffice. It’s not just this particular beauty blogger spreading information like this. One of my favorite youtubers recently started going down a path looking for “clean” “all natural” makeup. While I think it’s great that she is looking into using better products, I think that she is very misinformed on the ingredients that are used in those products and the purpose for which they are used. If she wants to use “clean” makeup that is fine – but when she spreads misinformation on such a huge platform, that’s where I have an issue. For example, she is on a hunt for all natural makeup because she thinks that it is better. People think all natural always means better but it doesn’t. Cyanide is natural but that doesn’t mean it is good for you. Just like MANY all natural soaps are not good for you because they are too alkaline and end up drying your skin out. Syndets such as Dove soap are actually better for you. Products are formulated in such a way that they can…
Travel Diary | Los Angeles, CA
Hey ya’ll! I took a very much needed break from blogging over the past 3 weeks! Happy New Years to my fellow sparklers – I would love to hear in the comments how you guys spent your Holidays and your New Years? What are your traditions? The end of December and the beginning of January is special in our family because it’s my sister and my neice’s birthday! We typically do a yearly trip to celebrate the occassion. This year, my sister wanted to go to Los Angeles – so off we went! Sit tight cause this is a long one guys! Day 1 The flight from MCO (Orlando’s Airport) to LAX was about 5 hours – and I could barely sleep, ugh! Once we got there, we checked into our airbnb in studio city! OMG it was beautiful there! The house was gorgeous as were the views! Living there would be a dream! If only LA traffic wasn’t so bad because I have like zero patience! But anyways, studio city is close to all of the major tourist spots so I highly recommend staying there! The first thing that we did was the hollywood walk of fame! Honestly, I was surprised because it wasn’t as fancy as I expected! It’s also a little difficult to get a picture because it is SO crowded there! Around there are also two other touristy spots – the dolby theater and the chinese theater. We got to check three things off of our list in one trip! Later on that night we went to the Grove, which is an outdoor shopping place. They still had their holiday lights up and it was absolutely beautiful! My iPhone camera could not capture how pretty it truly was! While we were there we headed to Dominique Ansel (home of the cronut) for dessert! I got a chocolate chip cookie shot! After a long flight and long day we finally called it a night! Day 2 We started off our day by grabbing a bite to eat at Eggslut in Grand Central Market. It was SO good and I 100% recommend. Actually, everything we ate in LA was SO good! But anyways, Grand Central Market is super cute and apparently everyone raves about this place! They have a lot of different food that you can try. Right around the corner is the last bookstore! I’m convinced they…
Worth it? ABH Liquid Glow
Hey my fellow sparklers! You know I’m all about the sparkles and that means I’m also all about the glow. I’m always looking for ways to make my highlight so intense that I glow from space! One of the best ways to do that is to layer your highlights! I normally use the melted strobe from the Huda Beauty Highlighter Palette for that but sometimes it’s a little more golden than I’d like. Sometimes I really love a silvery highlight on my skin tone. For that reason, I chose to try the ABH Liquid Glow in the shade Perla. I originally thought Perla might be too light for skin tone but it actually worked out well for me. That being said, if you’re a medium skin tone don’t be shy to reach for this shade. It’s more of a subtle glow at first but you can build it up. It works perfectly with the ABH x Amrezy Highlighter. It definitely makes the highlighter show a lot more. See below for swatches! In the reviews I’ve read people say that it’s difficult to blend but I find that it works well if you add a little on your hand and then apply and blend with your finger (use your index finger to tap in). A little goes a long way so I definitely think it’s worth the price tag of $25. I definitely recommend this to everyone and think this would make a great addition to a makeup artist’s kit. Huda Beauty Demi Matte Cream Lipstick
So far, I have loved everything that I’ve used from the brand Huda Beauty. I am personally biased because I think her story is so inspirational on how she became a famous blogger and beauty brand owner. Whenever she comes out with a product, I always have high hopes for her product. Being a blogger herself, I trust that she has a good idea of what the consumer wants. That being said, I was so excited when she came out with her new demi matte lipsticks. I bought the shade “Game Changer ($20).”
Fall Makeup Inspo + Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Review
Happy Thanksgiving!! I’m thankful for everyone who follow my blogs and insta and likes and comments and interacts with me! <3 You guys are the best!! Let’s do a review of the Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette ($38) first and then we will jump right into the makeup – saving the best for last! The packaging is super cute. However, I feel like beauty bloggers and YouTubers always complain when there’s no mirror in the package so I thought it was strange that she didn’t include one. It’s not really a big deal to me though because I almost never use those mirrors for my makeup. First Impressions The colors in this palette are beautiful! I think it’s nice that she included every shade of brown that you would ever need. The black shadow in the palette is beautiful, but not the most potent black I’ve tried. So far my favorite black eyeshadow is the one in the Huda Beauty Original Rose Gold Palette. I don’t like that she doesn’t include just a flat white/cream matte shadow in the palette to set your eye shadow base with. Both of the white colors have a sheen to them so they are better for brow bone and inner corner highlight. I also think it would look beautiful if you add just a touch of those white shadows to the middle of your cheek highlight to make it stand out just a little bit more. I love the purple and blue and green that she added – especially the green! The green is so pretty and I can’t wait to actually use that. I think that green shade is actually the perfect “new” fall color. I’ve been seeing lots of yellows and reds as usual but I really think green is very in right now. I don’t like that she didn’t add a transition color in the palette for the colorful shimmers but that’s not a huge deal. I think she did what she could with the space that she was given. All in all the palette is BEAUTIFUL! She’s good at creating beauty products! She knows exactly what we want in a palette and I think that it’s pretty amazing, especially for the price tag! I definitely think that this is a palette that everyone needs just because of the range of looks that can be created just by using this palette. I…
