Decorating your Grad Cap!

It’s graduation season!! Congrats to everyone graduating! When I was decorating my graduation cap I had so much trouble finding information online on how to do it… which is why I’m writing this blog! Hopefully this will help some of you guys!

Here’s what I used (mostly everything is from Micheal’s):

  • Black Glitter Cardstock ($1.00)
    • Buy like 2-3 in case you mess up
  • David Tutera Rhinestone Adhesives ($6)
    • I bought two (these are the bigger stones around the edge
  • Silver Crackle Bling Sticker ($6)
    • Cut into equal sized strips and place along the outermost edge
  • Darice Rhinestone Applicator ($12)
    • This is used on HOT FIX rhinestones. If you don’t have any experience using hot fix rhinestones, it basically has dried glue on the backing and the applicator picks it up, heats up the glue, and then it’s ready to be placed wherever. IT WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE SO MUCH EASIER.
  • I can’t remember the exact rhinestones I bought, but 4 mm rhinestones should work
    • On Amazon search: “4 mm hot fix rhinestones” and pick the color you like

Here’s how to do it

  1. Measure you grad cap and cut the card stock to fit
  2. Measure the little circle in the middle of the grad cap and cut a hole in the cardstock of the same size (using something with a straight edge like a box cutter as opposed to a scissor will make your life easier)
    • Trick: Making tiny vertical slashes in the hole you just made so it’ll be easier to fit it over the bump
      • When I say tiny, I mean TINY – You don’t want to be able to see the slashes when you put it over the top
  4. Add stickers and embellishements as you’d like
    • I crazy glue-d mine down but that was so much work. At least it didn’t fall off right?
  5. To do the gator, I printed out a stencil online and traced it out very lightly in pencil onto the cardstock
  6. then I used the hot fix applicator to apply the stones individually and that’s it!
    • Applying every stone individually took me 2-3 hrs/day x 3 days so plan for that if you want to do something intricate!

Best of luck in your future endeavors.

What’re some of your favorite options for a comfy date night outfit?

I finally tried Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara…

… and I’m so glad I did.

I’ll be honest, I initially didn’t like it and didn’t think it was as great as everyone claimed. I think that’s because I wasn’t using it right. You have have to tilt your face upwards so you can really be able to start from the base of the eyelashes – so basically, do the mascara face.

Pros: Lengthens… alot, volumizing

Cons: If you get the wand too close the inner rim of your eye it can hurt because there are so many bristles on the wand and they are kind of stiff.

I am honestly WOW-ed by this product. If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while you know that Too Faced Better Than Sex has been my holy grail mascara forever. So how does Tarte’s mascara ($23) compare? I would say it’s so close to being just as amazing. However, I do believe that Too Faced BTS mascara is just a little bit more volumizing.

If you want length, this is a great option. It lengthens so much!

Hope you guys liked this post!

Little Black Mesh Dress

Mesh and see through dresses have become such a huge trend lately! Mesh dresses are beautiful for special occasions or even just for a casual spring/summer look! I wore this particular one from Jessica Simpson for a ceremony:

This dress has the mesh outer piece and comes with the black inner lining.

I paired it with simple black closed toe heels. See my Instagram (<–click the link) for more pictures from the ceremony.

It was extremely hard to find similar dresses to this one, but here are some dresses in the same style category:

Stila Magnificent Metals Review

Sparkle lovers everywhere were in amazement when Stila came out with their Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadows – literally a dream come true, right? Or am I right?

This product is ingenious because it allows the user to bypass using a glitter base before applying glitter. All you would have to do it apply this to your eye.

So the real question is: is this better than using a glitter base and loose glitter?  Better yet, is it worth $24?

See below for a swatch of Kitten Karma

When I swatched this in stores I died. It was so beautiful – I knew I had to have it. Once I bought it and tried it out on my eyelids I was actually a little disappointed. I was hoping that it would be super potent and pigmented, but it’s a little sheer for my liking. Even with a primer, it wasn’t as glittery as I’d hoped.

I will say however, there isn’t a crazy amount of fall out with this product so that’s a good thing. It will probably work better when you layer it, but I’ll probably just stick to a good old glitter base and loose glitter for now.
