Fall Makeup Inspo + Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette Review
Happy Thanksgiving!! I’m thankful for everyone who follow my blogs and insta and likes and comments and interacts with me! <3 You guys are the best!!
Let’s do a review of the Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette ($38) first and then we will jump right into the makeup – saving the best for last!
The packaging is super cute. However, I feel like beauty bloggers and YouTubers always complain when there’s no mirror in the package so I thought it was strange that she didn’t include one. It’s not really a big deal to me though because I almost never use those mirrors for my makeup.
First Impressions
The colors in this palette are beautiful! I think it’s nice that she included every shade of brown that you would ever need. The black shadow in the palette is beautiful, but not the most potent black I’ve tried. So far my favorite black eyeshadow is the one in the Huda Beauty Original Rose Gold Palette.
I don’t like that she doesn’t include just a flat white/cream matte shadow in the palette to set your eye shadow base with. Both of the white colors have a sheen to them so they are better for brow bone and inner corner highlight. I also think it would look beautiful if you add just a touch of those white shadows to the middle of your cheek highlight to make it stand out just a little bit more.
I love the purple and blue and green that she added – especially the green! The green is so pretty and I can’t wait to actually use that. I think that green shade is actually the perfect “new” fall color. I’ve been seeing lots of yellows and reds as usual but I really think green is very in right now. I don’t like that she didn’t add a transition color in the palette for the colorful shimmers but that’s not a huge deal. I think she did what she could with the space that she was given.
All in all the palette is BEAUTIFUL! She’s good at creating beauty products! She knows exactly what we want in a palette and I think that it’s pretty amazing, especially for the price tag! I definitely think that this is a palette that everyone needs just because of the range of looks that can be created just by using this palette. I cannot wait to play with it more.
Quality
I originally swatched them all but the lighting was so bad I decided not to upload. However, all of the colors look exactly like they do in the pan! They all swatch beautifully and I didn’t have any issues with any of the colors in the palettes. The shimmery shades are like nothing I’ve ever felt before. They are so soft and kind of creamy! You don’t even need fix + to apply these – they are that good! They blend really easily, aren’t too powdery – and they are pretty much just the perfect formulation!
Now onto the fun part… THE MAKEUP !! WOOHOO
MAKEUP LOOK!
I love playing with makeup because it allows me to grow in my skill! I hope that I always continue to grow and be better.
FACE
Foundation: The Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation in the shade Baklava
Concealer: Nars Radiant Creamy concealer – Custard
Contour: ABH Powder Contour Kit
LIPS
Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick in Vixen – I added brown shadow to the lipstick to make it darker but I don’t know how safe that is for you so try that at your own risk
EYEBROWS
My trusty ABH Dipbrow pomade in the shade dark brown
EYES
Liner: Marc Jacobs – Blaquer
Palette: The Jaclyn Hill Palette
Transition
I used the bronzer-type brown (4th in from the left) shade for my transition. Next, I added deeper cool shade brown a little lower (3rd in from the left).
Outer V
Blend the orange on the outer V first. This is will make the red pop more. Then blend the red on the outer V and very slightly into the lighter brown shade.
Middle and Inner Lid
Add the orange-y gold next the red. Add the white shimmer shade in the inner third.
Smoke out the lash line:
- Add the brown bronzer type of color
- Go in tighter with the red shade
- Go over that with the dark brown shade
