Oily Girl Thoughts | Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick
I have been dying to try the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick ($46)! I’ve always resisted the urge because this foundation is a satin finish and I like more of a matte finish.
However, YouTubers were raving over this foundation in their 2017 Favorites of the Year so I decided to just go for it.
ALSO! The packaging is just so luxurious and beautiful I was like ahhh gotta have it!
Anywhoooo let’s get into this review!
First Impressions
OMG! Now I know why they call it “seamless.” It honestly really is so seamless and it just melts like butter onto the skin. It doesn’t settle into any fine lines, wrinkles, or dry patches. It really just makes the skin look radiant!

Do the Claims Stand?!
COVERAGE
It’s definitely not the most full coverage foundation I’ve tried. It will cover new acne marks and lighter acne marks but it won’t cover the hyperpigmentation from older marks. I would definitely say this is more of a MEDIUM coverage foundation but that’s not a huge issue.
SKIN TYPE
I have sensitive and oily skin. While I didn’t break out with this foundation I don’t think it worked well to keep my oils at bay. I’m used to using matte foundations so I’m used to having my foundation last longer. It wasn’t like I was a greaseball but the oil did peak through around my nose area. This is not a huge issue because I don’t mind this for school. It started to get oily around 2-3 hours. Normally I get oily around 4-5 hours.
FLUIDITY
It is very easy to blend out on the skin. I was actually really surprised because I thought it would be hard to blend. I figured since it was a stick it would be waxy in consistency but it’s actually pretty buttery.
****TIP: The girl at Sephora told me to blend using a buffing brush instead of a beauty blender and I found that that worked well for me. It also says on the Sephora site to use a buffing brush.
SHADES
I definitely think the shade range is great for medium skin tones and I think the color suits me really well. It’s not too yellow and not too orange. I was shade matched to “Golden Tan” for reference. I’m not sure if it adjusted to my body temperature and I’m not too sure what that actually means.
CONTOUR?
I think it would look really nice if used for contour and highlight because it isn’t super heavy and it has a really finish and texture. It would honestly look so beautiful and seamless and blended. I obviously am not going to spend $150 for three foundation sticks just to be able to do that but if you have the money I’d say go for it. Just keep in mind that oils will shine through if you use a lighter shade for highlighting the center of the face.
INVISIBILITY
I definitely feel like it lives up to this claim. The foundation is beautiful and medium coverage but looks like skin! I feel like that is so hard to find in a foundation! Normally if a foundation looks like skin then it probably has minimal coverage. This however feels like nothing on the skin and literally just melts into your face and looks so beautiful!
CONCLUSION
This foundation looks beautiful on the skin. You can build it up if you want more coverage but it won’t completely cover hyperpigmentation. Personally, for oily skin I will be sticking to mattes but if you have normal – dry skin I think you will love this!
If you are looking for something that is super full coverage then check out the Kat Von D Lock it Tattoo Foundation.

Thanks for the honest review, I have to think twice about trying this haha< 3 looking pretty though
Thank you for reading girl! It looks so nice on the skin just not super long lasting for oily girls!
I received a sample of this a few months ago and I absolutely loved it! I’ve been “rationing” it because it’s so expensive but your review reminded me to wear it soon haha 🙂 thanks for the honest review!
Haha it looks so beautiful on! Thank you for reading! 💖
Good to know about how this foundation wore for you. I’ve been debating on this one or the Bobbi Brown stick foundation. I think I’d prefer something longer lasting.
If you have normal skin I think you’ll be fine. I’m not too sure about the Bobbi Brown stick! Let me know what you decide to try! Would love to hear your thoughts! Xo
Foundations products are som of favorites to try out 😀 I litterally wanna try every single one out there hahaha. I do have oily skin as well, but I don’t mind foundations like these that aren’t super matte 🙂
Yeah I don’t mind either on an everyday basis! OMG I love foundations too! A good foundation is key to good makeup!
That’s amazing! Oh to be young again…hahaha
Awww haha! Thanks for reading! <3 xo
I have been so curious about this foundation! It looks great on you! I have a very oily T-Zone, so I think I will pass on this one. However I am tempted because the finish looks beautiful!
Thanks girl! OMG it looks sooo pretty on it!! I didn’t get crazy oily – just a little around the nose and forehead but ugh wish it lasted longer on my skin! Thanks for reading!! xoxo
[…] the skin but I wouldn’t say it’s as nice as the original foundation. Honestly, I like Hourglass’s stick foundation’s finish a bit more than this […]
