Face Masking in the Shower?

I keep up with the Queen @hudabeauty’s blogs and she mentioned something super interesting: face masking in the shower. Sounds productive right? Well I definitely, thought so.

I tried it using Mario Badescu’s Healing and Soothing mask.

Why try it?

According to Huda’s blog post, experts claim that face masking in the shower is good for your skin because the hot water keeps your pores open. That way, more of the product can soak it into your skin more easily. Extracting masks like charcoal masks should be able to pull more out of your pores this way as well.

Sounded good to me!

GIRL, it was a HOT MESS!

I don’t think this worked out in my favor cause I didn’t think about some things before hand. For example I didn’t dry my face or hands before doing this so it made it difficult for the mask to stick. If you want to try this out, don’t worry, keep reading for some tips/info/my thoughts!

1) Make sure you dry your face and hands in the shower before doing this so the mask can actually adhere to your face.

2) How do you keep track of the time? I just kind of guesstimated.

3) It’s kind of hard to wash off. I think that’s because of the humidity in the shower.

4) I broke out so much afterwards. I have really sensitive skin and I’m probably never gonna do it again. (If you don’t have sensitive skin this may not be of concern to you).

What I Worry About..

Being a slight germaphobe, I had one thought on my mind… and that’s storage!

On the label of the mask, it says to store in a cool dry place. Therefore, I would assume you don’t want to keep it in your shower where there’s a lot of humidity. It is my belief that it would interfere with the stability of the product. Keeping it in there during your shower is probably not a great idea, but that’s my opinion (not a fact).

*Huda quoted experts and I am not an expert so if you want to try this do so at your own discretion! Always do your own research before trying these things.*

What are some of your favorite masks? One of mine is the Clinique Moisture Surge Mask. Looking to try new ones!
