Foundation Review | Becca Ever-Matte Shine Proof
I think every makeup junkie has a list of their favorite foundations and Becca’s Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation is definitely on mine! First, I want to tell you the story of how I decided to try this foundation:
I walked into Ulta and this pretty girl was wearing a really nice foundation. Like her skin looked flawless and her foundation looked like skin! Up until that point I had never tried a foundation that actually looked like my skin. So of course, I convinced my sister to go ask her what foundation she was wearing (perks of having an outgoing sister haha). She told us it was Becca’s ultimate coverage foundation and my sister bought it. However, it didn’t work well for her oily skin so we decided to try the matte version. Ever since then, BECCA’s Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation ($42) has ranked pretty high on my top ten foundations.
Let me give you the deets on this foundation, foundation specs if you will, lol.
Shade: Bamboo
With 20 shades, I’d say their shade range is pretty broad. I think bamboo is a pretty decent match for me and I’m a medium skin tones. I like that they cater to golden tones.
Skin Types: Sensitive, Normal, Combo, Oily
I’ve got oily skin and I love it because it mattifies my skin so well! If you don’t love matte foundations or you have dry skin then you probably won’t like this one!
Coverage: Medium, buildable
Hyperpigmentation from acne scars is an issue for me and of course a medium coverage foundation will not cover my darkest scars, but that’s acne, because I typically go over my acne scars with a concealer (if I’m not too lazy and have time).
You can also go back over the areas that need more coverage to build it up.
Longevity:
Typical time to oily/shineyness for any foundation: 4 hours
I normally take my foundation off as soon as I get home, so I’m not sure how long it really lasts. But I do know that it lasts 10 hours, which I feel is good enough for the average person. Better than good enough actually.
Unlike other foundations, it doesn’t cake up and break apart around the oils. A tiny bit of oil was peaks through at the end of 10 hours, but I don’t look like a giant greaseball. A little touch up and you’re fine!
*I use the Smashbox Photofinish Primer in Light (for oily skin)
Blendability:
The cream formula is easy to blend out. No brush strokes. Very smooth finish.
Flashback: No
What makes this foundation special:
According to BECCA’s website, micro fine powder particles absorb excess oils to keep you oil free.
OVERALL:
I’d rate this foundation a 5/5 and I’d say it’s #4 on my top ten favorite foundation list! With lasting power, oil absorption, and flawless finish, I’d say all my fellow oily girls need to try it!
Excuse my eyebrows – going to get them done soon, but that’s a picture of me wearing the foundation. The color is a pretty good match with my neck. I didn’t edit the light or anything on this photo. You can still see some of the acne marks around my chin very faintly but I also didn’t use the acne concealer!

What are some of your favorites? Have you tried this one?
