10 Beauty Products that are Not Worth the Hype

  1. L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara – Carbon Black
    • By the way everyone raves about this product I thought it would be amazing and better than my holy grail (Too Faced BTS), but it isn’t.
    • It IS a good mascara for volume – but not for length.
    • CoverGirl has equally great mascaras.
  2. Makeup Forever Skin Equalizer Primer
    • Doesn’t control my oil so makeup longevity decreases.
    • Might be better for someone with dry skin.
    • Don’t notice a smoothing effect.
  3. NUME Curling Wands
    • I have the set with 3 barrels (big, medium, small).
    • Hair doesn’t hold a curl very long with these
    • Temperature keeps fluctuating
    • The one pro is that my hair does look shiny when I use this product.
  4. Soap and Glory Body Butter and Shower Gel
    • I expected this to be amazing because it’s raved about so much.
    • Quality is okay – there’s nothing AMAZING about it but the scent
    • I think Bath and Body Works is comparable or maybe even better.
  5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kits
    • Hard to blend, don’t recommend for beginners
    • The yellow colored concealer is a little harsh for most skin tones
  6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Contour Kits
    • Don’t use this product alone as just a powder contour because after a couple hours the product will separate and be very patchy on the face (oily skin).
    • Works better on top of a cream concealer. Mist with Fix+.
    • I like the cool toned contour color to carve out my cheekbones.
  7. Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits
    • Pigmentation is good BUT WAY TOO DRYING for the price point
    • Gets patchy during the day
  8. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment
    • Expected more from this product because of the price
      • I wasn’t WOW-ed by it
    • Similar effects to chapstick
  9. Colour Pop Matte Liquid Lipsticks
    • Extremely drying
    • LOVE their lippie stix (Rayezor is my fave) just not their ultra mattes
  10. Urban Decay Glitter Liner and Single Shadows
    • Liner: not enough sparkle, thin, need to build up intensity
      • Would use NYX liner instead because it’s cheaper and has more glitter
    • Shadows: again, not enough sparkle, fall out is crazy
      • If you’re looking for a shimmery finish as opposed to a glitter finish then this would be great for you.
      • I have three glittery eye shadows that look beautiful in the pan but when applied it, it just looks like a powdery shadow.

I am so glad that someone else feel the same way about ABH cream contour kit, I don’t reach out for this kit precisely because of these two reasons. Great post. Have not used any other product from the list, but I have found all the liquid lipsticks drying on my lips 😒

Omg yes! And thank you! Thank you for reading! Try using Nivea lip butter underneath! Works like a charm

Interesting. It’s all a wild jungle to me but the words and labels are colourful like a gingerbread house…. and it is simply rich and colorful…. don’t know what any of it is though 😅😇 bless you

Hopefully catch up on sleep this weekend. Plenty of work to do in the next week. Best wishes

I agree, the Colourpop ultra matte liquid lipsticks are very drying, you should try the ultra satin range that they have

    • Reply sayeedahsparkles March 4, 2017 at 12:38 am

Never tried it but I definitely will! Thank you for the recommendation and thank you for reading ❤️

I find the Colourpop matte lipsticks look so different on different people. I bought the shade Lovebug because I loved the way it looked on people with a very similar skin tone to myself. On others it’s a terracotta red, but when I wear it, it’s literally dark brown! So drying as well. I was really disappointed, especially because I had to get my order shipped to the UK, which was a real pain. The Supershock creme eyeshadows I ordered did make up for the lipstick, though- I don’t have a single bad word about them. I’d 100% recommend- super pigmented, amazing staying power, and so many gorgeous colours!

It’s so difficult ordering lipsticks online cause colors look different on everyone and because people use filters online which changes to color a little too. I’ve heard good things about their eye shadows but never actually tried them so maybe I’ll check them out!

Crazy. Funny as. Glad I don’t have to try and appear as decent as any of you most likely do. I would probably never come out of the bathroom I would look a mess with some of the descriptions of the items above. Very stressful. You guys go to great lengths to get us to see what’s right in front of us sometimes. Most of what I hear from most other guys about women etc… is very limited. No doubt you can often give a lot of time and patience (tolerance) for little return. Blessings for the week ahead as the moon keeps building x

lol it takes practice but I definitely wouldn’t say it’s for little in return. Makeup can be used to change your look so many ways and it can be a great confidence booster! Blessings to you too!

Wouldn’t get as much return on my canvas as yours. Should have seen the bloke who just attached himself to me and my mate on the train. He was telling us about the truck that hit him. I don’t know that your makeup could have helped him. He already had a bottle of port though if I still drank I suppose a swig of the right makeup could really get some results. What an experience across the city today. I guess in a sense we just encountered an ogre…. without any gold or magic items. Lol

LOL sounds very interesting and also sounds like you don’t even need makeup for your canvas! Enjoy your week! Xoxo

Now I am lost with my own metaphor… hmmm… the cat is splayed over the back of the couch right now so we ain’t doing any work here. Oh well… better meditate before I train… thanks again. If you look at my blog you probably see a few of us in need of a painting, story, anything 5th house astrologically speaking.
May the force be with you 😎🤔😇

Totally agree about the ABH contour kits. I feel like there are much better options out there. Loved your post! xx

    • Reply sayeedahsparkles March 14, 2017 at 11:15 pm

Totally! What’re your favorite cream contouring products? Right now I just use bronzer as a contour

      Thank you for reading!

It is a bummer Soap & Glory didn’t interest you, but I love the Righteous body butter.. it sinks quickly and makes the skin smooth withoug being greasy. I agree with you on L’Oreal mascara though! Really liked the post ❤️

Thank you so much! And the way everyone raves about it, I thought it would be life changing but it honestly wasn’t that moisturizing to me – maybe I just have extra dry skin? I don’t know lol

      • Reply TheBeauty&FoodLab March 25, 2017 at 6:21 am

I do have very dry skin on the body that can easily look flaky and parched but with few changes and thrice a day application helped my skin in a matter of four days. What do you use as a body moisturiser?

        • Reply sayeedahsparkles March 25, 2017 at 1:34 pm

Oh that’s interesting, glad it worked for you! Right now I’m using Jergens and I love it!

          • TheBeauty&FoodLab March 25, 2017 at 2:06 pm

Oh yea!! That’s another good product which I have used, infact one of my first body moisturisers!!

          • sayeedahsparkles March 25, 2017 at 3:37 pm

Really? Used to use bath and body works all the time but I feel like jergens is just way more moisturizing

          • TheBeauty&FoodLab March 25, 2017 at 7:58 pm

Hehehe…Yea😃I remember alternating betweenJergens and St.Ives wheb I was 14..Bath and Body Works came at a later period in my life.. I mostly used it’s handsoaps and sanitizers and sometimes body washes xx😊💗

I love this! And I agree about the Colourpop matte liquid lips…those things were WAAAYYYY too dry for me. I felt like my lips were made of alligator skin…not cute!

    • Reply sayeedahsparkles April 25, 2017 at 1:08 am

Thanks girl! And seriously! Love their lippie stix though!
