Travel Diary | Los Angeles, CA
Hey ya’ll! I took a very much needed break from blogging over the past 3 weeks! Happy New Years to my fellow sparklers – I would love to hear in the comments how you guys spent your Holidays and your New Years? What are your traditions?
The end of December and the beginning of January is special in our family because it’s my sister and my neice’s birthday! We typically do a yearly trip to celebrate the occassion. This year, my sister wanted to go to Los Angeles – so off we went! Sit tight cause this is a long one guys!
Day 1
The flight from MCO (Orlando’s Airport) to LAX was about 5 hours – and I could barely sleep, ugh!
Once we got there, we checked into our airbnb in studio city! OMG it was beautiful there! The house was gorgeous as were the views! Living there would be a dream! If only LA traffic wasn’t so bad because I have like zero patience! But anyways, studio city is close to all of the major tourist spots so I highly recommend staying there!
The first thing that we did was the hollywood walk of fame! Honestly, I was surprised because it wasn’t as fancy as I expected! It’s also a little difficult to get a picture because it is SO crowded there! Around there are also two other touristy spots – the dolby theater and the chinese theater. We got to check three things off of our list in one trip!
Later on that night we went to the Grove, which is an outdoor shopping place. They still had their holiday lights up and it was absolutely beautiful! My iPhone camera could not capture how pretty it truly was!
While we were there we headed to Dominique Ansel (home of the cronut) for dessert! I got a chocolate chip cookie shot!
After a long flight and long day we finally called it a night!
Day 2
We started off our day by grabbing a bite to eat at Eggslut in Grand Central Market. It was SO good and I 100% recommend. Actually, everything we ate in LA was SO good! But anyways, Grand Central Market is super cute and apparently everyone raves about this place! They have a lot of different food that you can try.
Right around the corner is the last bookstore! I’m convinced they have every book you could think of – or at least most of them! This place is a book lover’s dream, and maybe an insta lover’s? You’ll definitely find some cool photo spots here!
After that we were off to see the Hollywood sign! Since we wanted pictures with the actual sign in the background we didn’t do the hike. We instead went to Lake Hollywood Park which is like the optimal spot for pictures with the sign! Parking up the hill is intimidating for an amateur like me so if you’re like that too then I suggest taking an Uber!
It was beautiful up there. But what was more beautiful was seeing Griffith Observatory at night! The views were amazing and there was a cool planetarium inside. It was packed though so maybe going a little earlier would be a smarter idea!
I’ve got a major sweet tooth if you didn’t already know so we stopped by Bottega Louie for some macarons and dessert! I got the rasberry cheesecake with white chocolate and it was DElish!
Day 3
You can’t go to Los Angeles without going to see the urban lights display at the LACMA can you? That’s exactly where we went on Day 3. The LACMA is a cool museum. I don’t think it’s a must see, but there are definitely a few cool displays. I’m not a super artsy person so I’m not super qualified to speak on this topic lol.
Next we went to Rodeo Drive – which I only know about because of Kim Kardashian! She wasn’t even in LA ugh, my dream of getting a selfie with her will have to wait for another time! Anyways, rodeo drive is beautiful and I can imagine super fun to shop on. Filled with luxury stores my heart was full from watching at all of the beautiful pieces! This was one of my favorite parts of the trip.
Third street promenade was next on our list. It’s basically like a boardwalk with shops like forever 21 (more my speed! lol). The Santa Monica Pier is right there so we also walked the pier. It’s cool cause that was the only pier I’ve seen that has a real ferris wheel and carnival like rides. The sunset there was insane!
Day 4
Day 4 was more of a chill day! We woke up a little later and headed down to Venice beach to see the venice canals (which totally looks nicer on google images than it does in real life) and to get some halal BBQ – if you go I recommend getting the lamb! There’s a nice boardwalk there where we got some ice cream!
Afterwards we went to the Getty – another museum. I’ve actually been really into museums lately. It’s so strange because I hated being dragged to museums when I was younger. This museum would also be a good place for cute instagram photos because the outside of it is just so chic! I was so tired at this time so there are no insta photos from me here!
Day 5
December 31st is my sister’s birthday and also day 5. For her birthday we went to OUE skyspace which is kind of like the One World Observatory in New York, except they have a slide. Yes, I did awkwardly fall down the slide because I’m a klutz. This is the home to another insta photo spot – the collete miller angel wings that you literally see in everyone’s instagram. This picture is also coming to my instagram soon haha!
Day 6
We were supposed to go to the broad but we were all very tired. the broad is a museum where they have super cool art displays that you should definitely google if you are planning on going to LA! I think this would be a must see!
Follow me on insta @sayeedah_ cause I’ll be posting more pictures!
Sorry I didn’t edit these – there were too many and I was just too tired!
Leave me some comments and tell me about your New Year’s/Christmas/Travel plans! <3 I love to hear from you guys!
