• Choosing Your Life

    This topic is kind of hard for me to write about cause I don’t want to step on anyone’s feelings but I still want to share mine. I think you can tell from my other blog posts that I’m not a super chatty person so I’m going to keep this short and sweet. All my life I’ve been steered into going into the health professions – specifically..I’ve been pushed to become a doctor. My parents never entertained the idea of me pursuing any other interest. I feel like because I was pushed in a certain direction, I never saw anything but their vision for me. I’m extremely squeamish – which is why I ended up not going to medical school. If it wasn’t for the couple of times that I fainted in undergrad, then I’d probably still be on that path… and I was on that path for 3/4 of my undergrad years. It’s tough to choose your life when you’ve been pushed a certain direction your whole life and that’s all you ever saw for yourself. Cause when it came time to choose what to do with my life I got so overwhelmed and confused and it was stressful. I changed course in the last half of my junior year in undergrad but it was very difficult to make a decision. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do because I was so scared to disappoint my parents. Don’t get me wrong – I love health and science and I think it’s extremely fascinating. However, I didn’t know what other options existed besides becoming a doctor. I didn’t know what else I was interested in… I never even gave myself time to explore anything else. I had tunnel vision. The light at the end of the tunnel was becoming a doctor. It was difficult to find my voice…to be able to tell my parents that my vision for my life wasn’t the same as theirs. And even when I did find my voice, they still pushed me towards their vision… I’m not writing this blog to complain, but so that other people who went through the same thing will be able to relate. I also hope that people who are in high school and undergrad will read this and will allow themselves to explore other options and see what else is out there for themselves. It took me…

  • Simple Everyday Makeup

    Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing my everyday makeup routine. I keep my eye makeup simple on an everyday basis – I like for it to look flesh toned. I also don’t contour, highlight, or use concealer everyday (I like to save that for special occasions). I skipped the eyeliner on my waterline to make my eyes look more open and awake. Here we go! 🙂 Everything that I use is italicized in pink! Start with your normal base (CC/BB cream or foundation) – I used a heavier foundation today because I needed my makeup to last a while: Makeup Forever Mat Velvet in #51 Add MAC Paint Pot in “Layin Low” to the eyelids all the way up to the brow bone Set eyelids with setting powder. Curl lashes. Add two coats of your favorite mascara to the top and bottom lashes (mine is Too Faced Better Than Sex) Apply liquid liner Keep the line pretty thin and end the line where your eye ends I normally don’t add wings – I save that for special occasions too lol Fill in your brows with whatever brow filler you like – I go super light with mine because dark brows make me look angry Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade – Chocolate Apply blush Hourglass Blush in Ethereal Glow – It’s a super soft baby pink color (for just a tiny flush of color) Cheaper Alternative: Cover Girl blush in “Classic Pink 110” Set face with setting powder Apply MAC Cosmetics lipstick in “Twig” MAC Cosmetics “Lustering” also looks beautiful with this look Hope you guys enjoyed this post!   • Favorite Nudes

    Hi! 🙂 As you can tell, this post is dedicated to nudes.. cause who doesn’t love a good nude :)? I have very tan/brown skin… kind of along the lines of a medium-dark tan, and these are some of the nudes that I think look beautiful on my skin tone. Eyeshadow: MAC Cosmetics: Paint Pot in Layin Low This paint pot is a little thinner than some of the other paint pots but it’s a beautiful color on my tan skin. I love this eyeshadow when I want a neutral look, and I normally set it with my setting powder or neutral colored eyeshadow. Eyeliner: Rimmel London: ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner  – Nude This eyeliner has great color payoff and glides on super easily.   • LuMee Phone Case vs Selfie Ring Light

    Need extra lighting for your selfie but not sure which option to go with? Well, I’ve tried both the LuMee phone case and the selfie ring light and I’ll give you my opinion on both. I purchased my selfie ring light on Amazon.com and personally, I didn’t love it. While this ring light is a lot cheaper than the LuMee phone case, I don’t believe it enhances the quality of my selfie. For one, the lighting is more of a cool toned, blue/white color. I personally like more of a yellow lighting. The blue/white lighting was not flattering on my tan skin tone. Also, due to the shape of the device, the lighting does not hit my face in the areas I want it too. Instead, it adds additional light on my t-zone and makes my face seem oily. The only good thing about this ring light is that it is detachable so you can use it with whatever phone case you want. The LuMee phone case on the other hand – I LOVE! Although it’s pricey, it is amazing! The lighting is more on the yellow side which I believe is more flattering on a wide range of skin tones. It also gets very bright but the brightness can also be toned down. It makes my selfies look really nice! The only downside is that the case is kind of big so it makes my huge phone look even bigger but other than that it’s great. The LuMee phone case wins!
