Dyson Air Wrap Complete Review
The Dyson Airwrap Complete allows you to style your hair while drying, with no extreme heat. You can choose from three different heat settings as well as three different speeds.
The coanda technology uses air to keep hair on the bristles/curler to give you that straight or curly hair.
What’s included?
Well first off it comes with the tan storage case that I absolutely love! Then it has the base part that you can attach all of the different heads to.
The different heads that it comes with are as follows:
- (2) 1.2 inch barrels – voluminous curls/waves
- (2) 1.6 inch barrels – loose curls/waves
- Firm smoothing brush
- Soft smoothing brush
- Round volumizing brush
- Pre-styling dryer
What I didn’t realize is that if you go on Dyson’s website you can get a customized styler based on your hair type, facepalm. I would’ve bought the longer barrels if I had known!
One of the reasons that I was skeptical at first on buying the Air Wrap Complete is that I’ve only ever seen girls with what I consider short hair, using it. A lot of the times, products like these work best with short hair. For reference, my hair was pretty much halfway past my behind :x.
I was most interested in this for the curlers it comes with that’s supposed to give you a volumized blow out type of look. I’ve also heard that the style can last you quite a few days.
HOW TO USE
I don’t have an actual video on how to use this because YT is hard work, but I will refer you to @sazan‘s video for that. She does a really good job on explaining how to use it.
- The hair should be wet.
- Use the blow dryer attachment to dry the hair enough so that it is 70-80% dry.
- Take off the blow dryer attachment and replace with whichever other attachment you’d like to use.
*The attachments will be hot, make sure to take care when removing them. For example, when removing the barrels only touch the pink part to remove it.*
Round Volumizing Brush
I haven’t used the round brush because I’m just not good at using those kinds of brushes in my hair. So, let me know if you like it!
Smoothing Brushes
I love these!! Listen, from wet to dry it takes me 15 minutes to get my hair sleek and shiny and voluminous!! I hate straightening my hair because I do not like pin straight hair and this tool allows me to keep the volume at my root. Also, when I wash my hair and I’m in a rush to get out the door this comes in handy!
Curlers
It comes with two of each size curling barrels because 1 barrel with curl hair outwards and one will curl it inwards depending on which side of the head you are curling.
How to use:
- Attach the head onto the base.
- Section off the hair into 5 or 6 sections. I usually start with the bottom.
- Start wrapping the hair around using the bottom piece of the hair first and roll up.
- Hold for 15 seconds on high heat or until dry.
- Then switch to the cold shot for 10 seconds.
- Turn the styler off to release the curl.
*Sit in front of the mirror when placing the barrels. Look at the arrows on the barrel in the mirror because that will tell you which direction the hair will be curled in.*
In the safety packet it says not to use aerosols around the dyson dryer so I’d refrain from the hairspray until you’re done.
The dyson website also has lots of helpful videos too on how to use it so make sure to check that out if you need more help!
HAIR LENGTH
I actually found that this really does work well on long hair. The barrel actually does fit all of my hair but I’m sure the longer barrels would have been better. I cut my hair short a few months ago (shoulder length) and found that it also works well on short hair.
LONGEVITY OF THE STYLE
Honestly, the curls don’t last long at all for me. They loosen out in like 15-20 minutes into more of a fluffy voluminous straight look, if that makes sense. I love the straightening brushes and my hair will stay straight with those for days?
USER FRIENDLY?
After watching Sazan’s video it was honestly so easy to use! It picks up the hair just like it says it will. However, you have to sit in front of the mirror and look in the mirror to see which way the curler will flip the hair.
DOES IT TAKE LONG?
Blow dryer alone: 30 minutes
Blow dryer plus straightening brushes: 15 minutes
Blow dryer plus curling attachments: 30-40 minutes
WORTH IT?
Okay so the blow dryer and straightening brushes are totally worth it to me. It usually takes me an hour alone just to rough blow dry my hair but they dyson blow dryer is 1000% worth it! I love that with the straightening brush I don’t have to wait for my hair to dry before straightening. I have tried other straightening brushes before and nothing compares to this one in my opinion.
The curling barrels left my hair with frizz and didn’t keep the curl. To be fair, it is very difficult for my hair to actually keep a curl in the first place. However, I’ve spoken to other people and they’ve had the same complaint. I think an actual hot curling wand would be better in that case!
Have you guys tried this?? What are your thoughts?? Have you tried anything else from Dyson? Comment down below to let me know!
